10 Hated Video Game Moments You're Totally Wrong About
6. Chris Punches A Boulder - Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 is one of the more contested entries in the franchise, and by far its most polarising moment occurs at the very end of the game, when Chris Redfield straight-up punches a giant boulder repeatedly in order to move it out of his way.
To many, this was a step too far for the franchise, by taking one of its central characters and pretty much turning him into a damn superhero.
And while it's undeniably over-the-top and a wider sign of the series' shift towards more action-orientated gameplay, it's also important to step back and remember what Resident Evil is and always has been - pure, unabashed camp.
This is a series where we've fought giant sharks and fled massive, murderous robotic statues, not to mention that the boulder-punching escapade itself takes place in the middle of an active volcano.
Is having a thoroughly yoked Chris Redfield punch a boulder that big a deal? Isn't it just really funny and tonally of a-piece with Resident Evil's B-movie vibe from the get-go?
