10 Hilarious Ways Video Games Punished You For Being A Dick

9. Fighting An Invincible Army After Betraying Your Team - Halo: Combat Evolved

While Halo: Combat Evolved pioneered modern first person shooters as we know them, it also popularised some of gaming's most annoying tropes - and being punished for "accidentally" killing teammates is one that still riddles games today.

Look, everyone knows that killing teammates and comrades is a terrible thing to do, but sometimes it€™s just unavoidable. You have these sprawling gunfights, and sometimes your allies just strafe right into your sight-lines while you€™re blasting away at a nearby covenant drop-ship, mostly because character AI is still about as smart as the average dog trying to catch its own tail.

But regardless of excuses, kill too many allies in Halo (accidentally or not), or more specifically, Captain Keyes in an early mission and the game isn't going to let you off lightly.

Kill Keyes and the doors around you will lock while an invincible group of soldiers spawn in to take revenge for their fallen captain. Even a Spartan won€™t be able to fight his way out of this one.
