10. Alan Wake/Guitar Hero
Finishing off we have a truly crazy idea and something that after the initial moment of questioning does actually sound rather awesome. So still set in Alan Wakes world where he is fighting against these mysterious shadowy figures to find his wife, but this time rather than fighting with light he is fighting with ROCK! With nothing but a guitar he has to rock out to save his wife before its too late. So this one is a bit like that heart-warming news article you always see at the end of the local news report where an otter saves and dog from drowning and gets its own day dedicated to it, you know the kind of thing we are talking about here. Anyway, on with the mash-up! So Alan Wake saving his wife with rock and roll, sounds crazy right? Well it kind of is but imagine the spectacle as after running through a dark forest you find a clearing only to be ambushed by zombies. Yet you know you are safe as you strum those first sweet chords of Lynyrd Skynyrds Free Bird or those first notes of the masterpiece Stairway to heaven. With each note the shadow in these beasts grows weaker as you get more and more of a note streak. Miss a note and things start to turn the other way creating a sense of urgency that means you have to play to the best of your ability in order to survive. Doesnt that at least sound a little bit cool? Games Similar: Other than the usual playing each separate original title I think I can safely say no one has ever tried a music based horror. Maybe Typing of the Dead is close, just without the cool music idea. And with that ends my suggestions on the matter. With these just being a few of the many great games that could potentially be created through mixture, I now throw the subject to you: what games do you think would make good, simply bonkers or just outright meant-to-be cross-overs?
