6. Slender: The Arrival

Since the dawn of the Internet, scary stories have been passed around, sometimes becoming so popular they turn into urban legends people actually begin to believe. The Slender Man is pretty much the king of those legends.

When viewed from a distance, the rise of Slender lore isn't all that ominous. The Tall Man of the Phantasm films was an obvious influence on the character, as was the growing paranoia people have to being watched or surveyed on the internet by faceless entities. However, real life crimes such as one where two 12-year-old girls attempted to sacrifice their friend in the woods to Slender Man make his mythos a lot creepier very quickly.

There are a couple Slender games, both of which involve looking for written pages that give Slender's description as he attempts to sneak up behind you, but my recommendation is Slender: The Arrival, simply because thanks to its revamped presentation and sound effects, it's the best execution on Slender's core mechanics.
