10 Horror Villains That Don't Stop Chasing You

9. Resident Evil 3 (1999) - The Nemesis

The recently revamped Nemesis isn't so much terrifying as he is predictable, to the point of being able to call the points that he's going to spring out on you.

Instead, the original Nemesis is getting all the credit here just for how excruciatingly sinister the damn thing is.

Everyone remembers the dog corridor from the first Resident Evil, right? Well, in retrospect, be grateful they weren't armed with rocket launchers and could open doors.

Right from his introduction, the Nemesis cements his reputation as a terrifying stalker by appearing at random times throughout Jill's adventure. Hearing a door open, a musical sting, and that one-word roar was enough to make the hair stand up on the back of anyone's neck.

The added terror of fixed camera angles meant you couldn't always tell which door he'd come storming through. So you could find your supposed escape was actually running right at him, adding new levels of pant-cacking terror.

Sure, later in the game you could stand toe to tentacle with him, but for that first couple of hours, he was a right menace.
