10 Hotly-Anticipated Video Games You Probably Won't Get To Play This Generation

8. Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo Sport
Sony Interactive Entertainment

Likelihood: 7/10

The Grand Turismo series is in a weird place. With the last numbered entry in the franchise coming out exclusively on the PS3 at a time when the PS4 had already been released, the series has seemingly been out of sync with the rest of the Sony ecosystem ever since.

And the release schedule of GT Sport - the upcoming spin-off game that’s set to introduce PlayStation fans to the world of VR racing - has been just as stilted. Slated to come out this fall, the game has since been delayed indefinitely, with only a vague 2017 release date in sight. It’s a similar fate that befell Sony’s similarly troubled Driveclub, a flagship racing game that was also delayed at the last minute by a whole year.

At the very least this last minute delay indicates that Polyphony Digital are going to have their hands full with Sport for a little while longer yet, and taking into consideration the developer’s troubled history with hitting release dates and perfectionism, the likelihood of seeing GT7 anytime soon is slim.

Like the sixth entry before it, the next numbered release will probably be ready once this generation has already wound down – yet we don’t see Sony making the same mistake twice by once again releasing their biggest franchise on a machine that has already been made obsolete.
