10 Hottest Video Game Movies Currently In Production - Ranked
5. Five Nights At Freddy's
Currently consisting of five official games and a spin-off, Five Nights at Freddy's continues to remain relevant within the indie horror genre, despite a simple point-and-click premise and an emphasis on jump scares over genuine horror. It's mix of horror with cutesy aesthetics proved immensely popular, especially among Let's Plays and streamers.
Seeing green, Warner Bros. Pictures purchases the rights to make a feature length film in 2015. Seth Grahame-Smith, author of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, will produce, along with Roy Lee and David Katzenberg . Series creator Scott Cawthon will be creatively involved, with Grahame-Smith stating the intention to make "an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie."
Instead of an adaption of the game, the movie is set to be an original story set to exist within the timeline of the game series. Gil Kenan, director of the films Monster House and City of Ember, is set to direct and also write the script with Tyler Burton Smith. The scarily adorable animatronic animals will reportedly be done by Jim Henson's Creature Shop; an admittedly inspired production choice.
The year 2016 has been fairly quiet on further developments however, so you can expect Five Nights at Freddy's to hit theaters in 2018 at the earliest.
