10 Hugely Important Video Games Kids Today Can Never Fully Appreciate
4. Tomb Raider
While Tomb Raider is one of the most iconic video game characters of all time, being one of the medium's first big crossover hits, going back to play the original PS1 games now would probably make you wonder why. While the 3D platforming and imaginative level design set the title ahead of the curve at the time, actually playing through the game's puzzles is more of a wrestling match with the controls than a satisfying adventuring experience. Unfortunately, the imprecise and clunky controls made Lara feel more like a tank than the agile tomb raider she was supposed to be, which meant even lining up the most basic of jumps became a real pain to pull off successfully. The series went on to become one of the biggest household gaming names the industry has ever seen, but new players going back to see what all the fuss was about will probably end up calling it quits after accidentally jumping to their death twenty times in the first level.
