10 Iconic Video Game Heroes Nobody Admits Are Absolute Dicks

The Devil May Cry series is its protagonist, Dante. Solidifying the look and feel of the game through the character's distinctive style and his sarcastic wit, fans of the series continue to buy these games to see the character back in the saddle as much as they enjoy the explosive hack n' slash action.

In fact, when the character took on a supporting role for the fourth game and was - gasp - rebooted entirely for the latest release, fans were up in arms about having to say goodbye to their favourite silver-haired demon slayer.

But to people who aren't hardcore DMC fans, it's hard to see why the loss of this character caused such an uproar. Sure, on the surface, Dante is pretty badass, but a personality defined entirely by the word "cool" can't keep a franchise fresh for more than a couple of releases.

Because after a while, Dante's antagonistic persona stops being enjoyable at all, and you slowly start to realise that if you take away his arrogance and sarcasm, there's really not much left.

So, while a couple of games full of Dante's dickish behaviour would have been fine, after being subjected to it over and over again as the franchise has worn on it has become clear that the Son of Sparda has more than worn out his welcome.
