10 Iconic Video Game Heroes Nobody Admits Are Absolute Dicks

In the wake of Uncharted 4 it's hard to remember that there was a time when Nathan Drake was nothing but an arrogant archetype. Closer to your one-dimensional 90s action heroes than the nuanced leads of The Last of Us, everyone's favourite treasure-seeking rogue definitely lacked the humanity and charm in the first game that he slowly developed over the course of the sequels.

But although Nate's a bit of a douche in the original Uncharted, he can be just a straight-up terrible person in the subsequent releases. I'll never forgive him for breaking Elena's heart by repeatedly going back on his promises to hang up his adventuring boots, and honestly, if I were in her position I'd have dumped him too.

And hell, forget about his actions and personality - the fact that Drake happily kills hundreds of (probably) undeserving goons over the course of the first few games has always been a bit suspect. Sure, this is on Naughty Dog for not explaining why Nate is so trigger-happy, but it still makes the character look a bit more bloodthirsty than he was probably supposed to be.
