4. V-Rock On Ocean Beach (GTA: Vice City)

"If you can’t wear a spandex jumpsuit, what can you do?".

It was a toss-up between this liberating feeling from Vice City or GTA III's initial sense of freedom. Escaping the back of that police van and realising you could do anything was amazing in III, but Rockstar managed to perfect their own sense of opportunity by putting players in the shoes of Tommy Vercetti, giving him a PCJ-600 and some of the most banging tunes of the 80s.

V-Rock, hosted by the hilarious Lazlow, was a mere radio station and yet it somehow became one of the very best aspects of Vice City. Tearing down the side of Ocean Beach with Judas Priest blasting, taking in the pastel hues of the Miami skyline and seeing countless bikini-clad bodies rollerblading past, was a regular highlight.

Oh, there was also some Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne and the ferocity of Rockstar's own Love Fist to take in and enjoy.

Ever since Vice City, this writer has been ignoring missions in favour of trying to recapture that Ocean Beach magic. It hasn't quite happened in subsequent GTA games, so it's best just to fire up Vercetti's world and make it happen there.
