10 Important Video Game Cutscenes You Totally Missed

2. All CAN Be Lost - Heavy Rain

Uncharted 4
Quantic Dream

Heavy Rain really blurred the lines between compelling interactive drama and a gritty video game in ways no one else had ever attempted before.

The story and missions players play through depend on their decisions and performances, with entire sequences potentially being completely altered or cut out entirely if a character isn't able to find the right clues or makes the wrong choice.

Characters can even be killed off permanently if certain levels are failed badly enough, with the game just rolling on without them. All of the choices and potential branches players can venture down will eventually culminate in them experiencing one of seventeen unique endings.

It takes some serious doing, but there is a standout bad ending to the game in particular where Madison and Jayden are both dead (having died during one of their missions), Ethan is unable to find his son (either through help by other characters or completing his trials) and is driven to suicide in a jail cell.

The true Origami Killer then gets to walk the streets.

It's desolate and depressing, but these cutscenes are absolutely vital in showcasing just how high the stakes really are when playing through Heavy Rain.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
