10 INCREDIBLE PS2 Games You Still Need To Play
5. God Hand
From the minds of Resident Evil's Shinji Mikami and the team at Clover Studios (those responsible for Okami and the Viewtiful Joe series), God Hand was destined for cult classic status straight out of the gate.
Playing like an anime series come to life, God Hand's entire narrative structure is built around its crunchy and satisfying combat. Sure, there's a story that goes alongside it, but aside from the smattering of weird comedy and overtly Japanese weirdness, it tends to play second fiddle to the outstanding combat. It's like Fist of the North Star meets JoJo's Bizarre Adventure by way of Devil May Cry.
And if that's not enough to sell it to you, I don't know what is.
Sadly, the game didn't fare too well on release but did find a lot of favour with the burgeoning 'hardcore gamer' scene that was rearing its head at the time. It has since gone on to amass a large fan-base who continually celebrate it at any chance they get.
If you're a fan of over-the-top beat 'em ups and are looking for something new to add to your collection, God Hand should be right at the top of your list.
