10 Infamous Glitches That Break Classic Games

5. Infinite Gold Glitch (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion)

Although it doesn€™t actually break the game, the infinite gold glitch in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a great example of a glitch that renders the game utterly pointless. The glitch was eventually patched several years after it was discovered, but for the longest time you could pretty much purchase anything you wanted without completing any quests whatsoever, eliminating any sense of progression that the game had to offer. The glitch was performed by killing a Redguard named Dorian in the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. Once dead, Dorian€™s body could be looted indefinitely, allowing the player to collect a potentially infinite amount of gold from his cold, lifeless corpse. Of course, you could pickpocket the money from him too, but who has the time to be dealing with that? Though some people will argue that this glitch doesn€™t ruin the game, I€™d have to disagree; the infinite gold glitch is the kind of thing that€™s just too difficult to ignore once it€™s been discovered. Just knowing that it exists is going to influence your decisions in the game; if you want something badly enough, you might just cave in and take advantage of the glitch.
