10 Insane Wrestling Game Spin-Offs
3. WWE Brawl (Unreleased)
Back in 2011 we were granted a new type of WWE Branded game, looking like a combination of Smash Bros. and the under rated Power Stone. Apart from a trailer no more information was given. Throwing superstars into objects, destroying scenery and walls, plus general hi-jinks gave it a good looking feel that should've gotten further into development. However when THQ went the way of the dinosaurs, this game went with it, with information disappearing in the dust.
Earlier this year WWE.com did an interview showing off gameplay and concept art. The cartoon style characters and over-the-top ideas gave it a family friendly feel, but wouldn't stop you from beating your best mate senseless on a drunken binge. It's a game that had real potential and the teasing gameplay that the interview gave makes you wonder why it was cancelled in the first place.
While the game never reached completion, it's hard to argue that it didn't influence some other WWE sectors. WWE Slam City for example looks eerily similar in style, with some occupations for characters being exact copies like John Cena as a mechanic. Had it been given an extra 10 to 12 months we may have seen another title to add to WWE's increasing chain of video games.
