10 Insulting Video Game Easter Eggs You Shouldn't Find
4. You're Not Supposed To Be Here - Grand Theft Auto III
Grand Theft Auto III features a similarly slighting Easter egg as its younger cousin, but the interesting thing about it is that there are actually several different iterations of it.
In one of the parking lots on Staunton Island, there's a wall that clearly was put there to separate an out-of-bounds area. It's just tall enough for you to not be able to jump over it on your own, but if you park a car underneath it, you can do it anyway.
The area on the opposite side of the wall is very clearly unfinished, but surprisingly, if you move alongside the wall, you can come across a message: "You weren't supposed to be able to get here, you know."
The message makes fun of nosy players that can't keep their nose outside of forbidden areas. However, this isn't actually the end of the story, because the message changes depending on what version of the game you're playing!
On the PSP version, it's a cheeky "HELLO AGAIN" with a smiley face, and in the PlayStation 2 version, it changes to "You just can't get enough of this alley, can you?"
The developers know people can't stay away from that place, so they keep making fun of them for it!
