Of all these assorted games, Our Darker Purpose is likely the most underrated. It has the kind of plot that the majority of gamers would consume like a birthday cake - all interesting hints to strange events that tie into the game and its mechanics.

Our Darker Purpose is a roguelike similar to Rogue Legacy or The Binding of Isaac. It revolves around a Lord of the Flies-esque scenario where a prison-like boarding school's administrators basically all disappear, leaving the remaining students to fend for themselves.

The whole thing is dark, but in a sort of Time Burton style, where playing as a starving schoolgirl feels more exciting and gothic than traumatising.

The randomised bosses are all well-designed, and the upgrades you can obtain on your journeys work well to create diverse play style for almost any preference.

In short, it's Nightmare Before Christmas meets a sort of messed up Battle Royale version of Harry Potter, and if that convince you it's worth a remake, then frankly nothing will.
