10 Locations Ubisoft Should Take Far Cry After Primal

9. The Snowbound North

Far Cry typically takes place in hot, exotic climates, so if Ubisoft wanted to return to the present day in future instalments, why not change the type of environment to introduce some new gameplay challenges and visuals? With an adventure in the snowy mountains of Alaska or Canada, the dynamic new setting presents unfamiliar threats and tasks. Abundant snow forces the character to scavenge food wherever possible to survive, and break through frozen streams to collect water. Burying yourself beneath a mound of snow and then ambushing a squad of troops allows players to plan attacks and hide in plain sight, or simply avoid combat when low on ammo or health. To avoid leaving footprints, having to find snowshoes or crafting them from natural materials is crucial. Blizzards and low temperatures affect gameplay, too. For example, during severe snowfall and cold-snaps, a decrease in health slowly slows movements, forcing players to seek shelter. This brings a whole new aesthetic and atmospheric theme to the Far Cry franchise, and the new challenges created by the icy setting may be a literal breath of fresh air.
