10 Major Video Game Sequels Coming In 2021
4. Far Cry 6
Hitting their mark with Far Cry 3, Ubisoft has been nailing the mainline entries in the Far Cry series ever since, even though the plots are almost always the same: Playing as someone pushed out of their element to stop an unrelenting tyrannical villain.
It doesn't look any different with Far Cry 6, and that's a positive thing.
In the game, we'll travel to the fictitious Caribbean island of Yara, governed by the fascist tyrant "El Presidente" Antón Castillo. Castillo is leading his son Diego, who is unaware of his own future, to continue in his footsteps.
The player takes on the part of local Yaran called Dani Rojas, a rebel soldier battling for independence who is seeking to return his country to its former glory. Gameplay follows from previous Far Cry titles, with players using improvised weapons, cars, and recruited Amigos, the new "Fangs for Hire" system, to overturn this tyrannical government.
One of the biggest reasons we've been enthusiastic about the game comes from Giancarlo Esposito playing the main villain. Esposito is a great performer, known for his incredible roles in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and The Mandalorian. We can expect a powerful "Best Performance" nominee at the 2021 Game Awards.
Originally scheduled for release on February 18, 2021, the game was postponed until later this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Let's hope Ubisoft uses this period wisely; we know their track record with buggy launches.
