10 Mind-Blowing Video Game Plot Twists Nobody Saw Coming
5. Clayface Plays Joker In Arkham City
The Arkham series was an extremely pleasant surprise when Asylum first appeared. Gamers will be forgiven for being skeptical about another comic book game since these dont really have a stellar track record. On top of that, you also had a game made by a relatively new and inexperienced company. Arkham Asylum smelled like a quick cash-in of a popular franchise. But it wasnt. With smooth gameplay, a captivating story and the inclusion of scores of favorite characters (some of them voiced by the actors from the exceptional Batman: TAS show from the 90s), Arkham Asylum was an awesome game. The end of Asylum sees Joker mutated by a special serum called Titan that turned him into a Bane-like creature. When he returns for Arkham City, Joker is back to his normal self, but is actually dying from the serum. This begins Batmans quest to develop a serum for Joker (against his will, of course) which he eventually accomplishes with the help of Mr. Freeze. Harley steals the antidote and Jokers back to health, ready to wreak havoc. Except that he wasnt. Everyone might have thought that Joker was large and in charge again, but he was still very ill and weak. When Batman clashes with Joker in the final boss fight, it is revealed that he was actually Clayface all along portraying a healthy Joker. This was not only a good, unexpected twist, but also a clever way to introduce another favorite villain in the rich universe of the Arkham franchise.
