10 Mistakes Nintendo Got Away With (Because They're Nintendo)
3. Weaker Technical Performances
If theres one thing that seems to be more true for Nintendo than any other member of the console market, it's inferior technical performances. Many games, even those developed for their own systems, don't necesarilly hold up to other games on the market in terms of graphical detail, technical capabilities, and high frame rate. This is especially true for Nintendo's last two consoles, the Switch and Wii U.
It's very rare, if at all, that you'll see a Nintendo game run at 1080p, 4K, or 60fps, like many AAA games do today.
For example, while many the Switch's launch title "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild", for all its innovative gameplay, lacked graphical detail and a high frame rate of other open world or console exclusive games like "Horizon Zero Dawn", "Halo" or "Uncharted 4".
And when it comes to the Wii U, anyone who wanted to play a third party game on the system, because they didn't own a PS4 or XBox, was usually stuck with an inferior version of that title. Luckily though, the Switch ports of games like Doom (2016) and L.A. Noire seem to have rectified this somewhat.
