10 Most Badass Weapons In Video Game History

7. Blades of Chaos - God of War

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLjzNAxyjDo By this point in the PlayStation 2's life cycle, we'd just about seen enough of the third-person action genre, and especially button-bashing beat 'em ups, but here's a game that managed to completely revitalise that format with absurd ultra-violence. The protagonist, Kratos, is a mega badass, and this is largely as a result of not only his gruff, deep voice, but also his excellent primary weapons, the so-called Blades of Chaos, given to him by the God of War himself, Ares. What's more, these weapons are permanently bound to his body, with the chains being burned into Kratos' skin, and so he is able to encompass them into just about every attack he performs throughout the game's brutal slugfest of a campaign. Whether you're simply smashing enemies in the face or performing insanely acrobatic manoeuvres to fling them about, the Blades of Chaos are a force of nature as far as video game weaponry goes, and though later games in the series have tried to spice things up with more ambitious arrays of weaponry, it is these classic mainstays that are always going to be our favourites.
