10 Most Baffling Crossovers In Video Game History

4. Pokemon Conquest

Pokemon Conquest
Tecmo Koei

Taking place during Feudal Japan and featuring pretty intensive tactical role-playing gameplay, the world of Nobunaga's Ambition on the surface doesn't have all that much in common with the beloved, colourful Pokemon universe. Still, that didn't stop Tecmo Koei from smashing both franchises together for a new RPG back in 2012.

Originally titled Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition (renamed Pokemon Conquest in the West most likely because players had no idea what the latter franchise actually was), the strange mashup proved to be a pretty surprising success, with the turn-based action of both series' being far more complimentary than many initially believed they would be.

Despite being front and centre in the title though, only a fraction of the 600-strong Pokemon actually made their way into the game, but that didn't stop both properties from each sharing the limelight naturally like few other crossover games ever have.
