10 Most Bizarre Multiplayer Maps In Video Games
3. DeGroot Keep – Team Fortress 2
Introduced as part of the Australian Christmas update, DeGroot Keep
is a special map for everyone's war-themed hat simulator. BLU must
raid the castle by grabbing the two capture points to the left and
right to raise the drawbridge, and then the one at the back of the
fortress to win. RED must defend until time runs out.
Aside from the fact that it's taken place in ye olde medieval, Scottish castle, a notable change compared to the various military bases set in the desert, springs, forests and the like, it affects everyone's loadouts.
Medieval Mode will only allow melee weapons, alongside longbows and crossbows, throw-able items, and so on. Engineers can't deploy sentries but Spies can still disguise themselves.
Removing all the guns would seem completely out of the question, but DeGroot keep offers some unique and challenging feuds to be had. With a tight timer and a drawbridge that can easily drop back down after a minute in waiting, it's a fast-paced rush for victory.
Valve hinted at why the TF2 crew were sent so far back in time. Apparently, the patriotic and downright idiotic Soldier annoyed his roommate as usual. Too bad the man in question is a five-hundred year old Scottish wizard with a firm distaste for the mercenary.
Oh, TF2. Never stop being goofy.
