This was easily the best game in the NHL Hitz series, boasting everything you would expect from a Midway title including fast action and outlandish teams and arenas. The addition of franchise mode in this game is what stood it out above the others. Not only did you create your team's persona, but you actually created your entire roster as well. Over time and after each victory you could get better gear to make your team better and other players would lobby to join your franchise. The game used a 3-on-3 style of gameplay, allowing for a much faster game pace. One timers would become almost a necessity as you were avoiding deadly checks coming in from other players. Of course, players or even the whole team could catch fire, as has become a staple in Midway games, to run all over the other team. Seeing how many checks you could rack up, how many players you could put through the glass and how many you could take out of the game with a fight were just some of the many entertaining aspects of this game.
