The Metal Gear series has received critical acclaim and an army of unwavering fans not only due to its memorable story and characters but also due to its many truly innovative ideas.

One of them is a special anti-cheat mechanic from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which punishes those who believe they can get away with taking shortcuts.

During the iconic electric torture scene, the player has to withstand Ocelot's punishment by desperately mashing the correct button. Before the villain turns on the shock device, he turns to the camera and warns the player not to use auto-fire, or "he'll know."

What Ocelot is referring to are modded controllers, which allow players to automate things like button mashing.

If a player ignores Ocelot's warning and decides to make the sequence easier with a modded controller, they are in for a, pardon the pun, shocking surprise.

The game is secretly programmed to recognize the use of modded controllers, and when it detects it during the torture sequence, it immediately fails your attempt, frying Snake alive and forcing you to do it all again.

Well, Ocelot did warn you, didn't he?
