10 Most Criminally Overlooked Video Games Of 2018
6. The Banner Saga 3
The concluding chapter of Stoic's immaculate trilogy, Banner Saga goes out with both a bang as far as their tried n' true gameplay is concerned, but with a heart-wrenchingly sad series of plot points tying off everyone's individual character arcs.
If you've stuck with these games since the original, you've stuck by certain main characters for tens upon tens of hours, forming bonds that add to the narrative gut-punch that only a finale can bring. On the gameplay side it's turn-based combat yet again, but as before, your heroes and enemies have armour stats that affect just how much damage your weapons and specials will do.
Brilliantly, health is also attack power, so you're forever choosing between damaging a foe's health; knowing their armour will soak up the blow, or targeting armour and getting walloped ever harder next turn.
A subtle but somewhat genius twist on turn-based combat overall, this last game's larger-scale battles, ability-granting Titles system and a story that factors into how you can begin rounds are all fantastic additions to one of gaming's most recommendable modern trilogies.
