10 Most Disturbing Dark Souls Bosses

7. Mytha, The Baneful Queen

Mytha, The Baneful Queen looks to have been taken straight from the monsters of Greek mythology. Holding her severed head in one hand, and a spear in the other, this serpentine queen is well and truly the stuff of nightmares.

Coming across this vicious queen during the Earthen Peak section of Dark Souls 2 is an intimidating sight - and if you haven't drained the poison from her arena, this meeting can be made unnecessarily more difficult.

Much like Quelaag and Scorpioness Najka, Mytha is another example of a Dark Souls bosses that embody the monstrous feminine trope to full effect. And in fitting fashion with her fellow nightmare fuel on this list, her background is just as twisted and vile as her headless appearance.

Once a perfectly normal human with her head intact, it was Mytha's own obsession with beauty and power that drove her to her monstrous transformation.

Infatuated with a king (believed to be The Old Iron King) who didn't reciprocate her feelings, Myra was driven to insanity to win his affection. This obsession led her to poison herself in the hopes it would make her more attractive to him. The results, however, didn't go as planned.
