10 Most Disturbing Dark Souls Bosses

6. Curse-Rotted Greatewood

Dark Souls 2 Demon of Song
FromSoftware

An optional boss that can be fought within the Undead Settlement of Dark Souls 3, new players won't even know they're about to get into a boss fight when they enter the vast area this tree resides for the first time.

It initially appears to be a seemingly regular area, with a group of enemies gathered around said tree. Get a little closer, however, and it'll spring to life, turning around to reveal its rotting face.

Said to be a spirit tree, this once whimsical being was - as its name implies - corrupted by many horrific curses that were sealed away inside it by the village's inhabitants. Now a twisted and rotting plant covered in putrid pustules, this boss is easily one of the most disturbing within the third entry in the series.

To fall this tree, all players will need to do is destroy the grotesque growths on its body and avoid being crushed or caught in the corrosive substance the creature excretes - which must smell just as dreadful as it looks.

Although this boss is optional, defeating the Greatwood will award players with the Transposing Kiln, which can be used to make powerful items from boss souls.
