10 Most Disturbing Dark Souls Bosses

5. The Rotten

Every Dark Souls game has the obligatory poison area, each more frustrating than the last. In the first game, it was Blighttown. In the third, it was Farron Keep. And in the second, players have the joy of trudging through both Harvest Valley and the dreaded Black Gulch. The latter of which being where we find the next boss on this list: The Rotten.

With a name that connotes such lovely images of decay and general unpleasantness, this glob of rotting, decomposing flesh is just as delightful as it sounds.

Found deep within the bowels of Drangleic after descending through The Gutter, this boss is described in the game's strategy guide as "an amalgamation of lost souls and the withered bodies they inhabited" that absorbs "all things unwanted or tossed away".

Theorised to have been originally one person (although who exactly is unknown), this being has continued to amass lost souls over a long period of time, festering in solitude until the point it’s encountered.

Stick to its side avoiding its giant knife and sludge attacks, though, and you'll make short work of this foe. Just don't let the horrible squelching noises it makes when you hit it put you off.
