10 Most Disturbing Sci-Fi Video Games You'll Ever Play

1. Alien Isolation

Alien: Isolation is simply the most disturbing, most horrifying sci-fi video game you're ever going to play.

Ditching the run and gun gameplay of Colonial Marines and Aliens Vs Predator, Isolation is slow, plodding, and - most unnervingly - quiet.

In the role of Amanda Ripley, the player is dropped onto the seemingly abandoned Sevastopol station in search of her missing mother, Ellen Ripley (who is currently part-way through a 57 year cryo-sleep).

She is not alone, however, the Sevastopol being home to a handful of survivors, murderous "artificial persons" and, of course, a massive, hulking Xenomorph.

The infamous brainchild of legendary artist H.R Giger, this unkillable, sneaky, and utterly terrifying Alien will stalk Amanda through dark corridors, air vents, crawlspaces and basements.

Stealth is the order of the day here; there is no shame in hiding.

Should the creature register movement or hear the slightest sound, it will turn and give chase with speed its size would belie, before decimating Amanda with tooth, tail, and claw.

Alien: Isolation is an absolute nightmare from start to finish, providing you have the nerve to actually finish it, of course...

In space, no one can hear you scream, but on Earth they can, and they will mock you accordingly.
