"From the beginning, you know the end" was the famous and compelling tagline for Halo: Reach, with longtime fans of the series already well aware that the story was going to end badly.

The game takes place before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved and follows a group of Spartans known as Noble Team attempting to defend mankind's biggest colony from invading Covenant forces.

Since Master Chief is regarded as the last living spartan in the first Halo game, we knew that our heroes didn't have any chance of survival, but that didn't make it any less heartbreaking as they were cut down, one by one. Almost all of the major deaths in the game could have featured on this list, but the most moving of all was the death of Six.

At the very end of the game, we see the mission title "Fall of Reach" with the objective "Survive". Some players hoped that maybe, somehow, there might be a way to get off the planet and keep Six alive, but it wasn't to be. Six goes out fighting, valiantly battling wave after wave of enemies until you inevitably take too much damage and fall to your knees, defeated.
