3. I've Got 99 Bars Of Health And Your Runed Axe Ain't Gonnna Take A Single One

This is an issue that I've faced in quite a few games, I'll spend hours ensuring that my character and party have the best weapons and armour only to find the next level's boss barely takes any damage. In the on-line game Vindictus I'd spend ages crafting my weapons and enchanting it only for a few weapon with much better stats to be avilable after a few levels. This isn't a problem that's limited to on-line games though, even with normal RPGs you'll spend a large amount of time creating of finding a weapon only to be given a much better weapon after a few quests. It got to the point that in most of my games I'd stick with the cheapest weapons and armour available to me and only upgrade when my wooden sword was barely doing any damage to the giant dragon. Why waste my hard earned gold on purchasing new gear every few levels when I could save up for the end game stuff that will last me for the entirety of the game. That being said, I did just equip everyone with Save the Queen in FF12, restart the game to get the Zodiac Spear purely because I opened a specific chest 300 hours ago? Pff.
