10 Most Gratuitously OTT Torture Scenes In Video Games

6. Wolfenstein: The New Order's Nazi Interrogation

Just like everything in The New Order, its interactive torture scene is balls-to-the-wall crazy. Having you dress up in an old school surgeon get up, the game lets you walk around a dingy basement constructing a chainsaw, searching for parts around the environment all the while a manic captured Nazi screams at you.

Assembling the weapon to use, the guy you're supposed to be interrogating suddenly breaks free from his confines, but you put him back into place with a few brutal punches. Tying him back up, you can finally go to work on revving the chainsaw and terrifying the information you need out of him.

It's all stuff that isn't exactly new as far as torture scenes go, but it's the manic energy that Wolfenstein manages to capture that makes it so memorable.

As the chainsaw fails over and over again and the Nazi resorts to laughing and screaming at you, it becomes clear that there's a weird, darkly comic joy that the title is taking in the sequence, resulting in one of the most unnerving parts of the whole game.
