10 Most Iconic Hats In Gaming History

6. Kung Lao’s Hat (Mortal Kombat Series)

In a game full of awesome masks and hats, it has to be something rather spectacular to take the crown of Mortal Kombat’s top topper, but Kung Lao’s easily achieves it.

Sure, Scorpion and Sub Zero’s face covers, or Raiden’s conical garment may be slightly more in the public conscience in terms of MK iconography, but the fact that Kung Lao used his as a weapon puts it dismembered head and shoulders above the rest.

Inspired by a henchman and cheat short-arse multiplayer character Odd Job from the 1963 James Bond film Goldfinger, Kung Lao's bladed metal hat makes for some of the series best special moves and combos. In fact, to many Kung Lao himself is considered a cheat character, with his OP moves and combo's nearly always featuring his spinning saucer.

He was also the highlight of the 2021 Mortal Kombat live-action movie, with him and his hat providing the most Mortal Kombaty moment in the entire flick during his battle with the batty Nitara. Flawless victory, indeed.
