10 Most Iconic Street Fighter Special/Super Moves

9. Pangaea Burst

Street Fighter 5
Capcom

Used By: G

First Appearance: Street Fighter V

Input: Quarter-Circle Forward x 2 + Punch

Compared to other members of the Street Fighter cast, the flamboyant, self-declared President of the World known only as G is a relatively new addition, being only introduced in Street Fighter V’s third DLC season (Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition). However, his Abraham Lincoln-esque top hat and suit, towering frame and messy blonde beard, not to mention his many similarities to Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike character Q, have caused him to become popular with fans.

G has a host of unique moves which could have taken this spot on the list, including his different ‘V-Trigger’ abilities: Maximum President (V-Trigger I) and Dangerous President (V-Trigger II). However, the Pangaea Burst has a unique suave charm to it. Like many of G’s attacks, the Pangaea Burst utilises his ability to manipulate the Earth and Magma to create a series of large devastating explosions beneath his opponent.

But it’s how G performs this move that brings it to its iconic status. After inputting this special move, which requires the use of the player's ‘Critical Gauge’, G gathers up a large amount of energy from the Earth into his body before simply pointing at his opponent and uttering the phrase “Light it up”. If the devastating attack itself isn’t enough to deliver Street Fighter V players a stylish victory, the move is able to be cancelled into easily from a variety of G’s other normal and special attacks, resulting in a variety of high damaging combos.
