10 Most Infuriating Cards In Magic: The Gathering
3. Vorniclex, Voice Of Hunger
Everyone loves cards that can produce any colour of mana. It allows us to play more experimental decks with a higher number of colours. They’re a staple in any rainbow/WUBRG deck and it makes us feel happy when allowed those rare effects which let us tap mana for any colour. If this was all that Vorniclex, Voice of Hunger did then he’d still be an incredibly good card.
However, his secondary ability means that whenever any other player taps their lands for mana, they don’t untap during the next untap step. So sure, you can still spend your mana, but if you do then you won’t be able to do much on your next turn. So, you either skip a turn or you don’t do anything with your mana which makes you again skip a turn. We’ve already been over how good having a turn advantage over your opponent is.
Contamination may be more powerful against non-black decks but Vorniclex doesn’t discriminate, making him overly powerful in every situation.
