10 Most Likely DLC Characters For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Pokémon is the highest-grossing media franchise of all time, so it only makes sense that Nintendo would want them represented as much as possible in Smash Ultimate, their proverbial "love letter to video gaming".

Although Sakurai previously stated that all of the DLC fighters post-Piranha Plant would come from unique franchises, the inclusion of Byleth has rendered that statement invalid, so a new Pokémon representative seems all-but-certain.

This is thanks in part to the fact that Nintendo recently released a free, week-long trial of Pokken Tournament DX, which is almost precisely what they did for the ARMS character reveal.

Though it's not confirmed yet, it seems most likely that Urshifu will appear as a DLC Fighter in both Pokken and in Smash Ultimate.

Think about it - they're going to want to include Urshifu to promote the Pokémon Sword/Shield DLC pack, and Urshifu has two forms, which like previous previous entries, works in his favour. Toxtricity could also be a possibility for similar reasons, but Urshifu has the edge of being specifically tied to an extra money-making opportunity for Nintendo.

He's got a built-in Final Smash in his Gigantamax forms, he's a Fighting-type with access to tons of impactful moves and throws... he's basically game-ready whenever Nintendo is.
