10 Most Overlooked PS4 Gems Of 2017 (So Far)
7. Hitman
Yes, its episodes released across 2016, but the full 'Hitman experience' i.e. the one people were waiting for, didn't actually drop until the 31st of January this year, making it at least eligible for a "Hey, you should probably check this out" roundup.
Though it struggled to catch on due to that episodic model, releasing one massive level at a time allowed IO Interactive to deliver what is hands-down the best Hitman yet. The levels themselves are genuine miniature worlds of potential, blending hundreds of NPCs with unique A.I. routines and purposes with layouts that encourage your more anarchic side.
Hitman has always encouraged that precognitive "I wonder if I can do this..." mentality when it comes to completing your contracts, and that soars when the landscapes are full of everything from hidden weapons and underground tunnels to explosive cooking equipment or a cannon that can blow your target's plane out the sky.
Impersonate a firing squad and shoot the wrong person, rig an ejector seat so the pilot gets blown into next week, convince someone they've seen a ghost or just throw a fire axe across the room and hope you hit pay dirt. The options are plentiful, and the laughs come just as fast.
