10 Most Overrated Video Games Of 2016
9. Final Fantasy XV
After a decade-long development cycle, Final Fantasy XV finally hit stores this past November to unexpectedly strong reviews, scoring an impressive 82 on Metacritic and landing the series' fastest sales to date.
This is all the more frustrating when you actually sit down and play the game. Yes, the open world is fun (especially the dungeons) and the game's characters are surprisingly entertaining, but a terrible camera hampers the combat, and it goes totally off the deep end in its second half.
The latter half of the game largely removes the open world in favour of more linear, less-satisfying on-rails gameplay, including an infamous stealth-based section that's already infuriated millions, and an underwhelming final boss fight.
Also, though the plot was much simpler than most FF games, it still didn't really make a lick of sense, and felt oddly lacking compared to the cinematic bombast of most previous entries.
Critics were rather forgiving with FFXV, and while it's a relief for it to finally be in our hands, it's clear the game needed more time to be polished, and was blatantly rushed out in an unfinished state.
