10 Most Terrifying Enemies In The Fallout Franchise
3. Deathclaws
The Deathclaw is an iconic Fallout foe that started as a pixelated monster that was, according to one witness, 'The size of three men' and had 'Claws as long as my forearm.' When Fallout went 3D they became massive, earth-shaking, in-your-face enemies who were quick as hell and could easily one-shot a character as they levelled up with even the most powerful player.
Deathclaws, like so many other Fallout enemies, were the results of experiments gone horribly wrong. Starting out as Jackson's chameleons, the US military tinkered with them to create a kind of shock-trooper who didn't need weapons or armour and could be thrown into battle to dominate any enemy.
As so often happens in the Fallout world, Deathclaws eventually escaped their initial testing facility and began spreading across the remains of the US, where they not only became the alpha predator just about everywhere they ended up but also evolved into different strains and created a hierarchy based on power and strength.
No matter how many hours you've sunk into Fallout games, the sight of one of these monsters running balls-out towards you will spike your adrenaline.
And when you accidentally stumble into a Deathclaw lair for the first time, get ready for a game reload and perhaps a change of pants.
