10 Most Underrated Weapons In Gaming
1. Mega Buster: Mega Man Series
Of course, Mega Man is never seen without his trusty Mega Buster. It’s as intrinsically linked to the series as infuriating insta-death spikes. The issue is, players are just too keen to be rid of it.
The crux of the action in the main series is defeating a selection of Robot Masters, followed by a showdown with nefarious Dr. Wily. Mega Man gets each Robot Master’s weapon on defeating them, and each is particularly effective against one of their fellows.
As a result, it’s possible to plot an easier course through the game is you know which boss is weak to which boss’s weapon, and tackle the stages in order.
More experienced players, however, may tell you that the Mega Buster isn’t to be eschewed as you switch from boss weapon to boss weapon. It may be outdone damage-wise, but it can also be more reliable and doesn’t devour energy ammo. Later in the series, a charged shot became available (Mega Man 4), and the Mega Buster could be upgraded through the Double Gear System mechanic of Mega Man 11. It might just be all the Blue Bomber ever needs.
