10 Most Unique Open World Enemies You Must Find
6. Plague Maiden (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)
As a famous slayer of monsters, it's safe to say there's no shortage of unique beasties for Geralt of Rivia to tackle in The Witcher 3. Picking just one to put on this list is challenging, but there's something so tragic, compelling, and terrifying about the Plague Maiden. As such, it's an utter shoo-in.
You can encounter this spirit in the "A Towerful of Mice" quest, which places you in a rat-infested tower on Fyke Isle. After some investigating, you learn about the horrible fate of Annabelle, a young woman who died on the island after a peasant revolt. That simplifies it substantially, but the main thing to note is that she was - apologies for the squeamish - locked into a conscious, paralyzed state and eaten alive by plague rats. This vile fate turned her into a Plague Maiden.
She's a figure as tragic as she is scary, with the entire quest being a worthwhile venture in this open world classic.
