Payday 2 was never about well optimised visuals, the focus solely on the experience of heisting with friends instead of showing off lush environments. It's a good thing then, since the Switch version isn't anything to shout home about.

You know you have a problem when even throwing a grenade causes the game to slow to a snail's pace, dropping frames left and right as the engine coughs and splutters before reverting to somewhat normal after the explosion. That's despite a ton of reduced visual options in an attempt to keep the game running at a reasonable 30 frames per second, but elsewhere the issues mount. Poor controls, bad AI in offline modes, a lack of online chat functions are just the tip of Payday's melting Iceberg.

When a game like Doom can be adapted with more detail and a stunningly fast FPS on the same system, it's not a good look for a game like Payday that constantly struggles through poor optimisation. A distinct lack of interest to even try to adapt to the Switch's unique opportunities certainly doesn't help matters either, so better to steer clear and heist with your friends another way.
