3. Every Video Game Movie Is Destined To Suck

Every time a video game movie is announced, we all approach with a fresh air of cynicism, that it's invariably going to suck because the writer has never played the game, the director is a hack, or the actors are just looking for an easy pay day. For every moderately entertaining video game adaptation (Silent Hill, the first Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat), there are about a dozen terrible ones (any attempt Uwe Boll has made), and so the trepidation is certainly with good reason, but does that mean we should still face
promising movies with so much doubt? Save for Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp's botched Halo movie, few video game movies have mustered much hope from gamers, and though the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie (starring and produced by Michael Fassbender) sounds interesting, it's still our nature as jaded gamers to expect that they'll somehow find a way to prove us wrong. I just hope that this is the time, and we can all relax a little about Hollywood encroaching on some of our favourite games.
