Super Mario Maker was a fantasy come to life, since gamers were able to create their own Mario levels. Ironically, the program to make this game wasn’t originally intended to be used for players. It was going to be used as a tool to teach new developers how to make Mario levels. The developers thought it was so much fun, they agreed to release it as a game.

And yet, there is no talk of using this program for any other franchise. Imagine creating your own Pac-Man courses. Think of how awesome it would be to create your own Sonic the Hedgehog levels. In the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, the player can create their own dungeons, proving a Legend of Zelda Maker game is possible.

Obviously, a program like this would be too complex for 3D games but it wouldn't be too taxing to recreate games with 8-bit or 16-bit graphics. The sales of the Mario Maker series shows this is a money-cow waiting to be milked.

But that's not the only feature of Super Mario Maker that should be made universal...
