10 Open-World Video Games You Must Play Before You Die

4. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Open World Games
Nintendo

Considering Nintendo have never really done an open-world game before Breath of the Wild, it's kind of amazing how well they pulled it off.

Impressively, Hyrule isn't just huge for hugeness sake and is instead full of lots of different areas to explore. The map is split up into four different areas, and each has unique elements that the player has to contend with.

Of course, the ability to climb basically anything is one of the reasons why Breath of the Wild is so impressive, as it literally opens the game up unlike anything else before it. If you can see it, chances are you can get to it.

Combine this with a weather system that makes exploring the world dangerous no matter if there are enemies about, and you have one of the most genuinely interesting and unique open worlds out there.

Even if it may have a lot of empty space, Hyrule in Breath of the Wild is a testament to the open-world genre.
