10 Outstanding Current Gen Video Games You Wrongly Overlooked
7. Ruiner
Top-down shooters have largely come and gone nowadays, with only a couple special standouts in the genre. Ruiner is one you likely haven't heard of but with its fascinating combination of cyberpunk, social commentary, and addicting combat, you'll want to get to acquaint yourself with it right away.
Set in 2091, your silent protagonist is searching for his kidnapped brother, currently in the hands of a corporation known as Heaven. Things aren't quite as straightforward as they appear either, for your character is being actively hacked by multiple unknown people and your sense of control is constantly slipping.
There's only one constant that you can trust not to change: addicting, brutal gameplay that mixes melee and guns into one fluid motion.
The story goes through its fair share of twists and turns, always keeping things interesting even outside of the shooting galleries. Ruiner is a title that warrants a playthrough, particularly if you're a fan of games like Hotline Miami or Furi that satiate the wants of those who enjoy top-down, tough-as-nails shooters.
