6. Mad Max

The craziness, violence, and car battles of Mad Max Fury Road is yours to take part in with Mad Max. Included along with it is an equally-crazy story that leads to Just Cause levels of destruction and an open world that offers both treasure and danger around every corner.

Developer Avalanche Studios, sticking with their destruction-heavy roots, made a proper Mad Max simulator here as you traverse an open wasteland full of War Boys in metal death machines, eagerly waiting for a chance to take you out.

Car combat is the biggest highlight here as you strategically take on a slew of enemies, each driving their own battle rig. With spears, 'boomsticks,' Max's shotgun, and even the car itself as offensive options, every violent encounter is flashy, responsive and even surprisingly strategic. Ground combat may not hit the same sweet spot, but it is still notably brutal and satisfying, serving up a combat style that's a mix of Arkham and Assassin's Creed.

Topping it all off is a revenge story that feels right at home in this universe. All of this adds up together to bring gamers a post-apocalyptic open world that doesn't rewrite the genre, but certainly offers plenty of quality and MM goodness to satisfy fans (and non-fans) of the series.
