10 Overlooked Movie Licensed Games (That Were Actually Awesome)
6. Ghostbusters: The Video Game
For as much as everyone loves Ghostbusters for, you know, the actual ghost-busting involved, it's a pretty safe bet to assume the film wouldn't have been anywhere near as memorable as it is if it wasn't for the classic performances from Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as the titular characters. It's lucky for us fans then, that the 2008 movie-tie game was able to reunite the entirety of that iconic cast.
Boasting the original players themselves, the Ghostbusters video game felt like a faithful adaptation of the 80s classic. Although the gameplay was rather run-of-the-mill - with third person shooting taking focus for the majority of the title - there was still a refreshing twist where you had to fire off your proton packs at enemies until they were able to be caught and captured in a ghost trap.
It managed to feel fresh and exciting because it was so entwined with the iconography of a well established franchise, and it didn't matter that you were essentially playing Gears of War-lite, because for the first time in video game history the easily-playable world of Ghostbusters was right at your fingertips.
